Laser Printers

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Today, laser printers are regular kinds of computer printers that are used mainly as speedy providers of excellent quality graphics and text on paper. These utilize a xerographic process of printing in which an image gets produced when a laser beam is scanned straight on a printer’s photoreceptor. What really happens is that the image of the page that needs to be printed is projected by a laser beam onto a selenium-coated revolving disc, which in turn is charged with electricity.

Charge from light-exposed regions is eliminated with the help of photoconductivity. Dry ink or toner particles are then taken up by the charged regions of the drum in an electrostatic procedure. And, this drum subsequently, prints the image of the text or graphics on paper by straight heat on contact that combines the ink onto the paper.

Laser printers have numerous crucial benefits as compared to other kinds of printers.

As opposed to impact printers, the speed of laser ones can differ, and is based on loads of features. Laser printers’ costs vary depending on prices of toner, paper, toner, and the occasional replacement of the drum, transfer and fuser assemblies. Frequently laser printers with smooth plastic drums can have extremely soaring costs of ownership that do not surface immediately till the drum needs to be replaced.

A duplex laser printer that prints on a paper’s both sides, makes the price of paper half and brings down the volume of space required for filing papers. Earlier obtainable only on expensive printers, these duplex laser printers are office regulars today even on mid-range printing equipment. Though all laser printers can comply with duplexing units, these are not always desired, as these bring about a more sluggish speed of printing a page, given the longer path of paper.

While majority of inkjet and dot-matrix printers merely get hold of an inward bound flow of information and straight forward print them in a measured wobbling method that might come with frequent breaks, the non-laser printer has to linger for further information.

On the other hand, a laser printer is not capable of acting in this process as such a huge volume of information requires to be taken to the printing gadget in a fast, unbroken method. Laser printers cannot halt the system quite enough to delay till the arrival of further information, without producing a noticeable misalignment or breaks of the dots on the page that is printed.

In its place, the image information is made up and saved in a huge memory bank that is able to stand for each dot on the paper. The need to save each and every dot prior to the process of printing has conventionally relegated laser printers to relatively smaller set sizes of paper. Majority of laser printers are incapable of printing unbroken banners cross a paper or sheet, as there is never enough memory obtainable in the printer to save such a huge picture or piece of information prior to the start of the printing process. Laser printing involves seven stages, namely raster image processing, charging, exposing, developing, transferring, fusing, and cleaning.

Label Printers

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Label printers is regarded as computer printers which print on self-adhesive media, paper, or card-stock (for tags). It is user- frienly for you with the ability to work while connected to a computer or stand-alone. Laser, and dot matrix are several types of label printers which is the most used common. But the most common and most efficient is the thermal printer.

There are two types of thermal printers: direct and transfer. Direct thermal printers work by using heat to produce a reaction on the special thermal paper and, thus, creating the image on the paper. Basically, the printer “burns” the label on the paper. The transfer thermal printer, on the other hand, uses heat to transfer the ink from the ribbon to the paper to create the label.

Printers that print labels are valuable to any type of business.

The most common use of these printers is for printing barcode labels for easier inventory tracking. For this function, it has to work in cooperation with a good POS program. In the retail industry, barcodes are attached to each product and the employees only need to scan each barcode during the inventory count.

The benefits of label printers are not limited to the retail industry. Resorts can use them to manage equipment rentals for faster rental processes and accurate monitoring of the equipment, and to manage the inventory for several rental locations around the resort.

In hotels, they can also be used to label baggage for identification and safety purposes. The label printer finds uses in hospitals for the hospital barcode system that aims to deliver accurate information to the patients and their relatives.

It is used in printing prescription labels, unit-use medication markings, and sample or file tracking.

In restaurants, uses include printing take-out forms, and labels for take-out bags, and number systems for the waiting customers. Label printers are useful especially in fast-paced environments such as fast food chains, pizzerias, coffee houses, and delis.

In markets and groceries, there are also uses for label printers. Most digital scales are now connected to label printers which print the barcode along with the price, weight, and product information.
Even at home, one can find uses for label printers. It can be used to print name and address labels, food labels, and wire and cable labels to keep things neat and organized.

Aside from printing labels, you can also print movie tickets, bus tickets, concert tickets, parking tags, promo coupons, and more. Another common use of these printers is for making wrist bands for patient ID information in hospitals, events admissions, water and amusement park admissions, and cash-free transactions for ships and cruises. Rather than printing tickets or tags, it is better to print wrist bands as wearing wrist bands prevents the accidental loss of whatever admission or information proof that may be needed.

There are hundreds of other uses for label printers not listed here. You are only limited by your imagination.
